Big changes continue to happen with the North American Power Sweeping Association (NAPSA). In February at its annual meeting at National Pavement Expo, the NAPSA Board voted unanimously to increase the size of the board to up to 12 members for 2009 and up to 15 members for 2010, with up to one-third of those members being associate (noncontractor) members.
Because of the member response to the open nominations for board members, NAPSA will be increasing the board to 15 in 2009 and not waiting until 2010. NAPSA strongly appreciates the positive feedback received on the change to the board structure and is thrilled that so many qualified individuals stepped up to get involved with their association.
Current contractor directors are: Mark Carter, Bill's Sweeping Service Inc.; Gerald Kesselring, Contract Sweepers & Equipment; William H. Schneider, Atlanta Sweeping Service; Debbie Jacketta, Jacketta Sweeping Service; Rod Moore, C & J Parking Lot Sweeping. Current associate member directors are: Gregg Blair, Superior Engineered Elastomers; Raymond Massey, Schwarze Industries, Inc.; Rod Savage, United Rotary Brush; Scott Cerosky, Pavement Maintenance Insurance Co.; and Tracy Day, Nite-Hawk Sweepers.
NAPSA is working diligently on bringing our members the best possible educational programming for 2009-2010. In an effort to make sure NAPSA's educational efforts meet members' needs NAPSA e-mailed members a survey link to assess topic interest. Results are being compiled and seminars and webinars will be planned based on member feedback. Members who have not received a link and still want to contribute should contact NAPSA.
Several unveilings were held at the National Pavement Expo from February 18-21 in Charlotte, NC. First, NAPSA had on display for the first time its new logo (also featured in this column).
In addition the NAPSA booth offered a sneak peak at its brand new website. The new NAPSA website, www.powersweeping.org, is expected to launch May 1. This new website will have a new look, new feel, new functionality, and new content!
