RoadSafe Trafficpens doors

A new traffic safety company, RoadSafe Traffic Systems Inc., has been formed by Aperion Management and Falcon Investment Advisors following their acquisition of NES Traffic Safety Division from NES Rentals Holdings Inc.

RoadSafe Traffic Systems provides traffic control and protection services for road construction with rentals of traffic devices, maintenance of traffic services, sign manufacturing and installation, and pavement marking.

With 30 locations throughout the country, RoadSafe is managed by Michael Catalonello, CEO, and industry veterans Kathleen Holst, COO and vice president for the midwest region, Robert Toomey, vice president, east region, Dave Meirick, vice president, west region, and Robert Severi, CFO.

Landoll acquires ICON Industries

Landoll Corp., Marysville, KS, has acquired ICON Industries Inc., Beloit, KS. ICON Industries was formed in 1994 from the previous Kan-Am Industries Inc.

In its early years the company primarily produced agricultural equipment and terracing machines, but in 1994 ICON began producing a full line of pull type earthmovers, graders and a variety of other pull type construction equipment.

Studies prove rumble strips effective

Rumble strips on roadway shoulders and centerlines are effective in reducing accidents according to two state studies reported by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

FHWA reports that rumble strips on shoulders reduced single-vehicle run-off-road crashes by 13%, according to a study of two-lane rural highways in Minnesota.

Also, a Delaware DOT study found that centerline rumble strips reduced head-on collisions by 90% - despite a 30% increase in traffic flow.
