A guide to all the latest brands and features

1123784489654 10305766

Although compact track loaders have been around since the late '80s, it has only been within about the last five years that they have really emerged as a true construction tool. Today, these machines are enabling users to get on the job faster and work longer into the season, thanks to their ability to work in soft soils and muddy surfaces. They provide minimal ground disturbance in sensitive underfoot conditions, plus they offer attachment versatility rivaling their wheeled counterparts.

With the recent entry of additional players into the compact track loader market, you now have even more brands, models and features to choose from. Following is a look at available models from 13 major suppliers.

Caterpillar Inc.
The Caterpillar Multi Terrain loaders are designed for versatility, flotation, traction, stability and ride quality. Pilot hydraulic joystick controls provide loweffort, precise operation. The suspended undercarriage transfers machine weight to the ground through wheeled contact points bearing against the track for very low ground pressure. The 287B is available with the highflow XPS hydraulic system. The loadsensing, variable displacement piston pump ensures maximum hydraulic horsepower and performance.

Bobcat
Bobcat manufactures five compact track loaders, including the new T140 model introduced earlier this year. The units provide greater digging and pushing performance in rough terrain, and often extend the working season with their ability to operate in wet and soft ground conditions. For those jobsites where ground disturbance is an issue, the low ground pressure exerted by the machine's rubber tracks makes them an ideal solution.

JCB Inc.
The 190T and 1110T have highdrive rubber track systems that provide increased flotation, reduced ground bearing pressure and increased lift capacity and stability over rubber tires. The rubber track loaders enable JCB's Robots to be used in a wide range of applications where wheeled skidsteer loaders are not effective. The track machines also offer more hours of continued operation in adverse working conditions. The 190T and 1110T feature JCB's single loader arm design, which allows side entry into the cab.
