When your customers need to move concrete into tight quarters or remove debris from confined spaces, a power buggy may be just the ticket. These versatile machines can easily maneuver in and out of areas often inaccessible to larger material handlers. And today's power buggies include features that further enhance productivity and mobility, such as larger buckets, fold-up platforms and removable tires. Here's a look at some current models.

Ingersoll-Rand PB16130H

The 16.5-cubic-foot PB16130H power buggy has a 13-hp Honda engine with electric or recoil start and an extra 3-gallon fuel tank. The unit is available with a steel- or poly-type bucket. The hydrostatic drive system allows simultaneous drive and dump functions, while the hydraulic system allows for aggressive dumping that discharges more of the bucket's contents. A counter-balanced frame design keeps the tires in contact with the ground in steep conditions, even when the bucket is empty. Optional foam-filled tires allow for added stability.

Miller Spreader MB16P Power Buggy

The MB16P power buggy offers strength and durability with its 2- by 9-inch solid-steel frame. All six tires are filled with SuperFlex gel to eliminate downtime and lost productivity caused by flats. The buggy is available with a poly or steel bucket. The 13-hp Honda engine has a recoil or electric start.

Multiquip WPB-16EAWD

The WPB-16EAWD all-wheel-drive power buggy has a 16-cubic-foot capacity bucket that can carry up to 2,500 pounds of material on dual wheels or 1,000 pounds on single wheels. A heavy-duty frame with a low center of gravity increases stability and traction. The traction-assist valve allows users to activate all-wheel drive without restarting the 18-hp Vanguard engine. The buggy can run up to eight hours with a 5.5-gallon fuel tank.

Canycom Model S25A Rubber Track Dumper

This new heavy-duty rubber-track dumper features a 180-degree pivoting dump box which allows the operator to dump from either side at any angle. The S25A comes standard with a rotating operator station which allows the operator to face the front or rear of the machine for safer, more comfortable driving. Other features include a two-speed hydrostatic drive and a 46-hp Kubota diesel engine. A 5,500-pound payload and low ground pressure make this unit ideal for construction and concrete work.

IHI Crawler Carriers

IHI Compact Excavator Sales offers crawler carrier models with 5,500- to 22,000-pound maximum payloads. Units offer 4,620- to 29,040-pound weights and 2.4- (empty) to 5.6-psi (loaded) ground pressure. The units feature self-bleeding, water-cooled diesel engines with a two-range hydrostatic transmission. Travel speeds range from 3.75 to 7.5 mph. Various attachments are available.

Yanmar C30R-US All-Terrain Carrier

The C30R-US All-Terrain Carrier has an operating weight of 5,510 pounds and a dump body capacity of 1.62 cubic yards (heaped). Other features include a 3.8-psi ground pressure unloaded, 6.8-mph maximum travel speed, HST/two-speed automatic transmission and a 32.9-hp, three-cylinder, Tier II-compliant diesel engine. Unit is controlled by a light-touch single-lever control. The reversible seat can face the direction of travel in forward or reverse motion. A ROPS/FOPS is standard.

Stone Mud Buggy SB1600

Stone Construction Equipment offers a 16-cubic-foot mortar buggy - the Stone Mud Buggy SB1600. The Mud Buggy, with a load capacity of 2,500 pounds, has the versatility of a walk-behind or ride-on machine powered by a 13-hp Honda engine. It easily moves concrete, mortar, gravel, dirt, debris and more. The unit features an easy-to-clean, heavy-duty polyethylene tub that has been designed and contoured to control splash. The tub is easily removable with just six bolts and can be replaced with an optional steel tub.

Crown CB16P Series

The CB16P Series buggies feature enclosed drum brakes that help resist failure due to concrete build-up. A rugged frame runs the entire length of the machine, providing strength and balance to keep the front wheels on the ground, even when climbing steep grades with an empty bucket. Powered by a 13-hp Honda engine, the units also feature 6-gallon fuel tanks and 16-cubic-foot capacity cross-link polymer buckets. The riding platform locks in an upright position for walk-behind applications.

Terex PS6-AWS Dumper

The Terex PS6-AWS dumper is the first all-wheel-drive articulating site dumper in North America. The body of the bed rotates 90 degrees to either side for unloading from the side while keeping the chassis straight. Features include a heaped capacity of 4.5 cubic yards, 13,300-pound payload capacity and 80-hp Perkins 1100 series diesel engine. The power shuttle four-speed transmission offers four speeds forward and four speeds reverse.

Ausa 400 AHG

The 400 AHG features a large, 8,800-pound capacity bucket and a rotating hopper that enables it to dump within a 180-foot radius. A rugged articulated chassis allows for improved rough-terrain performance. The unit is equipped with an Isuzu diesel engine, automatic hydrostatic transmission and permanent four-wheel drive. It also includes hydraulic steering and brakes and ROPS arch protection.
