It's no secret contractors like products. Whenever I talk to any of you about the magazine, it's invariably the product sections you tell me are your favorite part.

And that's no surprise. If you can find a new tool or piece of equipment that will save you time and money or a new finish that will allow you to charge a little bit more, it could be the key to thriving or failing in this increasingly competitive industry. And - let's face it - it's always fun to pick out a few more tools.

What you're holding in your hands is our biggest product issue of the year, the annual Showcase. It's our second one, and I'm proud to say it's more than 25 percent bigger this year. We've added to and tweaked the categories based on what we've heard from you since last year's Showcase and I think you'll find it to be a useful resource in the year to come.

For me, this issue also has some significance because it brings to a close my first year as editor of Concrete Concepts. It seems like just yesterday I was thrown into the middle of production on last year's Showcase. Since then, I've met a lot of you, talked to many more of you on the phone and learned a lot from you about this great industry.

In the last year, we've accomplished quite a bit and, I think, greatly improved the magazine. More important, though, is what you think. What are we doing well? What could we do better? What do you need more information about?

In the end, what's really important is how we can help you build your business because that's why we're here. I'd love to hear from you about the challenges you're facing, your successes or your really great projects. We're always looking for good companies to profile.
