A Learning Experience

Demonstrations, seminars highlight annual contractor conference

More than 200 concrete contractors flocked to St. Louis Sept. 9-11 to attend the second annual American Society for Concrete Contractors Annual Conference.

The three days were packed with educational opportunities on topics including decorative concrete, tilt-up, equipment use and business management issues. The American Concrete Institute offered its Flatwork Finisher class and certification exam at the conference. The conference also featured demonstrations of several decorative applications and a superflat pour and bump cutting and troweling.

The keynote and opening dinner speeches were given by Dr. Kenneth Hover. Hover, a professor of structural engineering at Cornell University, gave humorous and informative speeches on the history of concrete construction in ancient Rome and the content of concrete.

This year’s conference was sponsored by 15 manufacturers and suppliers, including Concrete Concepts.

Next year’s conference is scheduled for Sept. 15-17 in Denver. For more information, visit www.ascconline.org or call ASCC at (866) 788-ASCC.
