Thorson, SealMaster win entrepreneur award

SealMaster President Duke Thorson and SealMaster were the 2004 winners of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award for northwest Ohio. The award is presented regionally each year.

W.R. Meadows acquires Elsro Construction Products

W.R. Meadows Inc., Hampshire, IL, has acquired Elsro Construction Products, St. Albert, Canada, and created W.R. Meadows of Western Canada. The newly formed company will operate out of existing Elsro facilities and a new manufacturing facility will be built in Lloydminster.

Walgreens to add, relocate accessible parking spaces

Walgreens will improve the accessibility of its Illinois stores by bringing parking lots into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act following settlement of a lawsuit earlier this summer.

Under the settlement Walgreens will increase the number of handicap-accessible parking spaces, relocate accessible spaces closer to store doors, improve slopes on ramps, improve curbs, and remove obstructions from ramps and store entrances.

In addition to improving the accessibility, Walgreens will hire independent monitors to make sure all stores comply with the ADA. The chain will also pay a $350,000 fine.

Asphalt Care Equipment hosts 2-day event

David DiPalantino of Doylestown, PA-based DiPalantino Contracting Inc., meets with Marlene Fackler, Asphalt Care Equipment, at Asphalt Care Equipment's two-day equipment show last April in Philadelphia. Contractors attending the fourth annual show could attend training seminars, learn about new products, and take advantage of show discounts on a wide range of equipment.
