Technology and Sustainable Construction – Waves of the Future

Technology. It’s a part of who we are, how we live and how we think about the future. It touches almost every aspect of our lives, both personally and professionally.

Have you seen this YouTube video?

It shows a 1-year-old expertly using an iPad — pinching and swiping — and then trying to do the same on a paper magazine without results.

This video just sparked a few thoughts for me about technology ... how far we’ve come ... and how far we may go in the future.

Technology, after all, is never static — it’s always changing — sometimes faster than we prefer it to. (Have you ever purchased an electronic gadget and when you went back to the store a few months later it was obsolete?)

Technology is an important element of the sustainable construction industry, too. Without it, we wouldn’t have some of the products that have allowed our industry to advance. In this issue, you’ll see how technology has helped advance equipment like dozers and excavators — machines you might use every day. You’ll also see how it has helped contractors like yourself enhance their businesses and serve their customers’ needs efficiently and profitably.

Sustainable construction and technology have one very important common thread — they are the wave of the future and maximizing both can put you ahead of your competition.
