Clouse thought the machine looked like a potential solution to the humidity problem, and he decided to take advantage of DCT’s rental option on two machines. “We used the DB-30s whenever the humidity dropped below 40 percent,” he said. “We placed the units on a trailer with a generator and pulled them with a water truck.”
The higher humidity levels allowed the Strata crews to continue working, even on hot summer days. “In North Dakota the warm season is short, so we try to utilize every bit of nice weather that we receive,” Clouse continued. “The DB-30s did a good job of replenishing the surface moisture lost through evaporation, and they significantly increased the humidity behind the paver. There were times that we recorded an increase of as much as 15 percent.”
Impressed by the performance of the two machines, Clouse decided to purchase one of the units at the end of the rental period, giving the firm ready access to the technology for future jobs. “We found the DustBoss units were a valuable tool, and I anticipate buying more in the future,” he concluded.
