Construction of Tesla Gigafactory Ahead of Schedule

More than 740 construction workers have been hired since the project began in October 2014

Reno Gazette-Journal

The Tesla Gigafactory under construction in Reno, Nev., is slightly ahead of schedule and is estimated to be operational within one year. More than 740 construction workers have been hired since the project began in October 2014.

Tesla has already spent $140 million on the $5 billion project. Construction is expected to account for one quarter of the total price tag.

The gigafactory will be used to produce lithium-ion batteries for use in Tesla electric cars and possibly even battery systems that would store electricity for homes.
