Mediation Set for $15M Dispute in Minnesota Vikings Stadium Construction

Year-long closed door negotiations have failed so the $15 million cost dispute is moving to mediation

Star Tribune

Contractor Mortenson Co. requested to enter mediation on August 5th after claiming it is owed $15 million for work on the stadium after changes tot he original designs. Construction manager Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority is disputing that claim.

Part of the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority's argument against paying is it claims Mortenson did not properly submit documents or follow prescribed procedures.

Despite the dispute, the $1.1 billion building is still on schedule to be completed in 10 months.

Closed door negotiations over the cost changes have been going on for a year and have finally reached the point where a mediator will step in to try and resolve the dispute. If that doesn't work the next step is binding arbitration.
