Construction of Iowa Underground Pipeline Gets Green Light

The $1 billion Iowa section is expected to hire between 2,000 and 4,000 union workers for construction which likely won't start until at least June

As soon as federal permits are obtained from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and stormwater pollution prevention and "unanticipated discovery" plans are filed construction can begin on the Bakken oil pipeline's Iowa portion. Construction is not likely to start until at least June.

The pipeline will cross through North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and Illinois. The $3.78 billion project is expected to take about nine months to complete. The $1 billion Iowa section is expected to hire between 2,000 and 4,000 union workers for construction.
