Are you aware there is now a safety standard which affects all persons working with a concrete pump (and/or conveyor) on the concrete placement jobsite?

The recent release of publication B30.27.2014 Material Placing Systems by the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) includes a jobsite responsibilities section which clearly outlines what you as the concrete contractor, your pour supervisor, hose handles and placing crew, are responsible when placing concrete with a concrete pump. It also specifies what you should expect from your concrete pump provider and pump operator as well as what is expected of the ready mixed provider and their drivers.

But the real purpose of the standard is not just about deflection of liabiliity as much as it is about prevention. If all of the partners on the job know and understand the safety rules of working with a pump, it increases the likelihood that each of our workers will return home safe and sound.

You need to  be aware of the effect this regulation will have on your business. To learn more, visit www.concretepumpers.com and click on the ASME banner ad on the home page.
