Sweden-based Dynapac Karlskrona has begun making medical visors to help with medical supply shortages due to COVID-19.

Like much of the rest of Europe, Swedish regions are facing an acute shortage of protective medical equipment in the fight against the coronavirus. In this situation, Christer Bengtsson, an engineer at the Dynapac Design & Development department at Dynapac Karlskrona got an idea.

“I learned from my wife who is a nurse that there was an immediate shortage of medical visors at the local hospital,” says Christer Bengtsson. “This got me thinking about if and how we could support in any way, and I realized we could quite easily use the 3D-printer at work to print out medical visors.”

Christer got the project approved, googled the drawings and then the production started.

“We can of course not mass produce the medical visors, but 10-12 per day is still a big help for the hospital. When giving them the first batch last week, they were very thankful. In times like these, every contribution counts, and it feels good to be able to do something,” Christer says.
