Richard C. Moore Jr., Chairman of Lehman-Roberts Co. of Memphis, TN, was honored today (Feb. 1) as the National Asphalt Pavement Association’s Man of the Year during a ceremony at the association’s 62nd Annual Meeting in Orlando.
The Man of the Year honor recognizes outstanding contributions by industry leaders for the betterment of the entire asphalt industry. Moore was honored for his leadership in growing the World of Asphalt Show & Conference and strengthening NAPA’s partnerships with the show partners, the Association of Equipment Manufacturers and the National Sand, Stone, and Gravel Association.
“Under Rick’s watchful eye, World of Asphalt has grown steadily to become the premiere destination for the global asphalt pavement industry to come to see and feel the latest innovations from equipment manufacturers and service providers,” said Kevin Kelly, the 2016 NAPA Chairman, who presented the award. “With his guidance and support, educational opportunities have expanded significantly at WOA, improving the value of the event and strengthening the skill-base of the industry worldwide.”
Moore joined the NAPA World of Asphalt Committee in 2003 and he has chaired the committee since 2006. During that time, WOA has consistently ranked among Trade Show News Network and Trade Show Executive magazines’ fastest-growing trade shows in the United States.
Since 2006, the World of Asphalt Show has nearly tripled from less than 55,000 square feet of exhibition space to nearly 160,000 square feet. Similarly, the number of people attending educational sessions has grown from a little over 4,000 to more than 13,000. Moore also oversaw the effort to co-locate NSSGA’s AGG1 exhibition with WOA, expanding the number of exhibitors and educational opportunities available at the combined event.
