James

Is the expense worth it? I was just talking with an estimator from an extremely large Public Works contractor in our area and he told me of a job he just bid. It was a simple grade and pave of a small lot on a studio. The bid for non green was 200K. For green- 410K. Is it worth the cost? I don't know. I am quite sure the kick backs from the state will not cover that. Maybe the prestige of having it known that this project was green will be enough. I have not heard which way they went.

We are always using green materials when cost permits. We have been looking to bid on green projects though they are not too prevalent yet. Also, there is still a lack of dumps and plants producing green materials. At the moment we are just trying to stay educated and at least on top of what is going on and the trends.
