The North American divisions of Sandvik Mining and Construction and Dyno Nobel have renewed their cooperative agreement in North America to further strengthen the position of both companies in the marketplace, said Sandvik's Regional President Dan Allan at it Conexpo-Con/Agg press conference Wednesday.
The agreement between Sandvik and Dyno Nobel - both global players in the mining and stone industries - was originated in March 2005, and since that time, both have worked together to add real value for their customers. They have developed a better understanding of operational issues that may affect their customers' bottom lines through skill cross-training and knowledge sharing relative to the offerings, capabilities and cooperative training programs of both companies.
The alliance centers on enhancement in product development, marketing and sales and improved quality and service. "This non-exclusive agreement enables those in direct contact with our mutual customers from both companies to cooperate and help our customers better compete in their respective markets," says Allan.
One way in which Dyno Nobel and Sandvik are meeting the needs and future challenges of the aggregates industry is their cooperative effort to conduct annual Quarry Academy conferences. These three-day seminars are aimed at optimizing enterprise management at quarry operations. Quarry Academy is developed and put on by an integrated team of quarry experts from Sandvik and Dyno Nobel. In 2009 and 2010, Volvo Construction Equipment was added to the crew of instructors providing first-hand expertise in the loading and hauling steps in the quarry workflow.
"The team puts a lot into this project each year," says Jeff Heinemann, vice president of Construction for Sandvik. "They really enjoy the change of pace and the opportunity to engage so closely with such a large group of quarry operations in a short period of time. Each session helps them counsel with our customers."
Sandvik and Dyno Nobel are already planning Quarry Academy 2011. The next session will be held November 8-10, 2011 in San Antonio, TX. For registration information, visit quarryacademy.com.
