Nine Construction Companies Make the Fortune 500

Revenues range from $20.8 to $5.1 billion; Kiewit leads in profits by a wide margin

Nine contractors or engineering firms are included in the 2011 Fortune 500 list, with 2010 revenues ranging from No. 124 Fluor at $20.8 billion to No. 439 Emcor Group at $5.1 billion.

Peter Kiewit Sons is the third-largest construction-industry representative, ranked mid-way among the 500, but reported the greatest 2010 profit at $581 million (5.8% of revenues).

Engineering firm AECOM Technology employed the most people in 2010, with 48,100 people on the company payroll. The number had increased more than 11% since 2009.
