Thousands Line Up for 392 Caterpillar Jobs in NC

Expect at least 10 applicants for every Caterpillar job opening at new Winston-Salem assembly plant

The Winston-Salem Journal reported that 2,500 people turned out at Forsyth Technical Community College’s West campus for the first job fair for Caterpillar's $426 million manufacturing plant in Winston-Salem, N.C. Job hopefuls dropped off resumes, met briefly with plant managers and were directed to the company web site to post profiles.

Forsyth Tech officials have projected there will be at least 10 applicants for every Caterpillar job opening, or about 4,000 applicants for the 392 full-time jobs. Cat is expected to work through a temporary-employment agency to hire up to an additional 118 contract workers.

Caterpillar plans a second job fair in July.
