The Rental Show: Terex Mounts Effort to Sell Direct to Rental Companies

Terex Construction demonstrated its commitment to rental by staffing up a corporate rental group that has begun pursuing direct sales to rental companies. John Poag, director of the Terex Construction Rental, Government and Remarketing group says the company's dealers are firmly on board with the strategy and ready to support machines in the field with parts and service.

Coincidentally at The Rental Show this week in New Orleans, Poag's group introduced the first Woodsman chipper in Terex colors -- a simplified, durability-focused 6-in. model claiming half to two-thirds of the parts of competitive machines.

Rouse Analytics signed six key rental firms to its groundbreaking rental benchmark service. Sunbelt, Employing the rental-store performance metrics standardized by the American Rental Association, Rouse Analytics promises free top-line comparisons of rental firms' performance with that of its competitors. Money enters the picture when the subscriber wants to drill down into the statistics to isolate the rate, utilization, revenue and other metrics associated with individual markets and types of equipment.
