New York to Seek $2 Billion Loan to Replace Tappan Zee Bridge

Cost of the project could climb to $6 billion

New York will seek a $2 billion loan from the federal government to help pay for the replacement of the Tappan Zee Bridge, state officials said in a letter released Tuesday, which also revealed that the estimated cost of the project could climb to $6 billion.

The Tappan Zee's replacement is among 14 major projects fast-tracked last year by President Barack Obama in an effort to speed development of national infrastructure and spur job growth in the construction sector.
