Honeoye, NY Residents Worried About Loss of Stone Construction Equipment

To many, the sale of Stone Construction Equipment Inc. to Minnesota-based Toro Co. means one thing, said Mark Marconi of Honeoye.

“They’re leaving,” Marconi said. “I think Honeoye will become a ghost town.”

The Minnesota-based Toro Co. announced last week the purchase of the Richmond company’s employee-owned assets. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but a spokesman said the company is working to bring back many of Stone’s employees to help with production through the summer and into the fall.

“Eventually, we will transition production to our facilities in Nebraska and Minnesota,” said spokesman Branden Happel.
