WYDOT 6-Year Plan Shifts Away From Expensive Rebuilding

Cash-strapped agency has abandoned many costly construction projects in favor of pavement preservation work


Budget woes are forcing the Wyoming Department of Transportation to keep moving away from expensive construction projects.

Transportation officials briefed local lawmakers Monday on their six-year plan for upcoming construction and maintenance work in Laramie County.

Pat Persson, WYOT district engineer, said the cash-strapped agency has abandoned many costly projects in favor of "pavement preservation" work that seeks to maintain the condition of the state's most valuable roads.
