Titan Machinery First Quarter Profit Rose 4.5%

Titan Machinery Inc.'s fiscal first-quarter profit rose 4.5% as the company saw a jump in its sales of agricultural and construction equipment, helped by recent acquisitions.

Titan, which sells backhoes, tractors and other equipment for builders and farmers, has posted robust growth from agricultural-equipment sales in recent quarters, riding an increase in grain prices. More recently, the company has seen improvements in construction-equipment rentals, helped in part by an oil-shale boom in North Dakota, where the company is based.
