Will Georgia DOT Commit to Women and Minority Contractors?

The Georgia Department of Transportation says it wants 14% of the work on a $950 million project to build 30 miles of reversible lanes in Atlanta to go to disadvantaged business enterprises

The Georgia Department of Transportation says its serious about committing more work to disadvantaged business enterprises (DBEs). For an upcoming $950 million project involving building 30 miles of reversible lanes on Atlanta's northwest interstate highway by 2012, the state's DOT has a goal of 14 percent of that work going to DBEs.

However, the state DOT isn't hitting its current goal of 12 percent of statewide contracts toward minority and women-owned businesses.
