Terex AWP Unveils Genie Lift Pro online operator training program.
At The Rental Show in Las Vegas, Terex AWP unveiled Genie Lift Pro, a new online operator training program intended to replace the classroom portion of traditional operator training.
The program is not product or manufacturer specific and is said to take around three hours to complete. To finish the training, participants must attend a hands-on session, which can be conducted at an approved dealer or conducted by the dealer on site. If the student demonstrates and is able to prove competence, he or she will receive a certificate and a card signed by the instructor. Once the online and hands-on training has been completed, participants will have met the requirements to become a qualified aerial work platform operator.
The Genie LiftPro program satisfies the requirements of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standards. It will be sold to Genie dealers and independents at a cost of $290 for four product categories.
"We're driven by safety and we saw a need," said Matt Fearon, president of Terex AWP, noting that Genie's program is not in conflict with the International Powered Access Federation's long-standing PAL card program. "We see this as a compliment to their program. What we're going after is safety for the end-user."
