American Institute of Constructors Awards Inaugural Industry Achievement Award

Stephen P. Byrne Industry Achievement Award will be presented yearly to an individual who has supported the advancement of Constructor Certification

The Constructor Certification Commission of the American Institute of Constructors is pleased to announce a new award honoring past AIC National President Stephen P. Byrne. The Stephen P. Byrne Industry Achievement Award will be presented yearly to an individual who has supported the advancement of Constructor Certification at a high level.

Byrne passed away February 11, 2013 at the age of 59. Byrne was a Fellow, Certified Professional Constructor, Past National President, and current member of the Board of Directors and Board of Governors. Byrne also served as the Associate Executive Director of Facilities, Planning, and Construction for the Texas A&M University system.

The inaugural award winner, to be given April 26th in Scottsdale, Ariz., at the AIC Annual Forum is Carol McMullen. McMullen is currently the Assistant Executive Director of the Arizona Builders Alliance (AB) where she has been employed since 1983. Aside from her long service to the ABA and the local community, McMullen has been instrumental in growing the local CPC exam. The ABA has consistently been one of the larger CPC test locations in the country.

In addition to the individual award, a plaque honoring Byrne will be presented to the Texas A&M Construction Sciences Department by Commission Chairman David Fleming on April 11 at the department’s Annual Spring Scholarship and Awards Banquet.
