JCB's Bamford Named to British Parliament

Sir Anthony Bamford, chairman of JCB, has been named a Conservative peer in the United Kingdom's House of Lords.

The House of Lords is the upper house of the UK’s parliament, and most of its members are appointed, unlike the elected members of the House of Commons.

Sir Anthony took control of the family construction equipment company in 1975 at the age of 30, and has been a major donor to the Conservative party.

He has been outspoken on the need for government to champion manufacturing in the UK.
