Road & Track Names GM Pickups Top Truck of 2013

Evolution, not revolution, sets apart a comfortable-riding, capable truck that editors expect will be more durable as well

GM finally released a pair of new pickups, the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra with evolutionary, not revolutionary, changes.

No fancy eight-speed transmissions or turbocharged engines. Just a better interior, infotainment that isn't ancient or tacked-on, and a fresh take on clean, no-nonsense styling. Plus a comfortable ride that nearly rivals the Ram's optional air-suspension/coil-spring setup. The new V6 and V8 engines are fuel efficient (up to 24 mpg) while remaining simple enough.

Above all, GM's new pair work well as trucks, and the lack of gimmicks means they'll probably last longer than their competitors. Sometimes, figuring out what's right for the future means landing on what worked just fine in the past.
