New Jersey to Seed School Construction Fund with $508 Billion

Local districts' contributions should boost state spending to $1.1 billion on more than 1,500 projects planned in 331 districts

New Jersey's School Development Authority plans to use $508 million to help pay for 1,500 construction projects in 331 of the state's 590 school districts.

Including the local districts' contributions, the total costs of the projects is estimated at $1.1 billion. The state's portion of the funding comes from $3.9 billion in bonds the legislature authorized in 2008 for school facilities projects.
