FTA Offers $3 Billion to Support Transit Damaged by Hurricane Sandy

Federal Transit Administration funding to be awarded through competition will go to 'strengthen the resiliency' of systems for future protection from natural disasters

The Federal Transit Administration has made $3 billion available via competition to transit agencies that experienced damage to their transportation systems during Hurricane Sandy. The funding will go to "strengthen the resiliency" of systems in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia for future protection from natural disasters.
