The American Institute of Constructors (AIC) recognized Tanya and Joe Matthews of TMG Construction Corporation for their long-time dedication to the profession at its Annual Forum in Greenville, South Carolina earlier this week.
TMG President Tanya Matthews, who is an AIC Fellow, received the Walter A. Nashert, Sr. Constructor Award, an annual recognition of an individual who has established a reputation of success, integrity, and fair dealing in the construction industry. “It is for a talented person who has gained high visibility, and it is an honor to have Tanya Matthews join the long list of great AIC Members who have won this award,” noted AIC Executive Director Joseph Sapp.
Tanya and Joe Matthews together received the AIC’s Stephen P. Byrne Award, named for an AIC National past president and Associate Executive Director of Facilities, Planning, and Construction for the Texas A&M University System. Individuals who receive this award, “embody everything that [Stephen Byrne] stood for: professionalism, high ethical standards, and the highest level of support for advancing the construction industry and constructor certification,” Sapp explained.
The Matthews’ nameplate will be installed on a perpetual plaque displayed within the Texas A&M University Construction Management Program building.
“It’s very humbling to be recognized in this way by our peers,” responded Tanya Matthews, who also is a past President of AIC. “Joe and I have devoted our professional lives to living out our mission, principles, and values in the construction industry. It’s a privilege to contribute to the growth of our profession. Our success is attributed to our 92 employees, who devote their lives to professional construction, integrity, and ethics.”
