BigRentz.com Sponsoring Habitat for Humanity's Home Builders Blitz

Home Builders Blitz while help build, renovate and repair more than 250 homes

BigRentz.com is joining building industry professionals in 35 states and more than 80 communities across the U.S. as a sponsor of Habitat for Humanity's Home Builders Blitz to build, renovate and repair more than 250 homes. BigRentz.com has made a $150,000 gift-in-kind donation by contributing rental equipment, such as aerial lifts, material handling equipment and dirt equipment, in support of more than 80 Habitat affiliates participating in the build. The rental equipment provided will be used on-site throughout the week-long blitz.

Home Builders Blitz 2014 is a partnership between Habitat for Humanity and the building industry to build homes across the nation. Builders and Habitat affiliates work closely to organize all aspects of building, including securing subcontractors and suppliers, fundraising and seeking donations of materials. Builders participating in the program this year will work with more than 80 Habitat affiliates.

Helping launch the event from Jacksonville, Fla., Steve Thomas, Emmy Award-winning former host of "This Old House" and "Renovation Nation," will help raise awareness of the event, traveling to Habitat's Home Builders Blitz work sites to discuss how building professionals are taking an active role in helping to address the affordable housing needs of their communities.

Habitat launched its first national Home Builders Blitz week in 2006, four years after Habitat for Humanity Wake County (North Carolina) and local builder Tom Gipson recruited 12 home builders to donate their time to each build a house in five days. National blitz builds with professional builders were also held in 2008 and 2012. To date, more than 1,000 homes have been built, renovated or repaired under the initiative.
