Illinois Gov. Quinn Signs $1B Road Repair Plan

Extension of a six-year, $31-billion capital investment program intended to repair Illinois roads and bridges after a particularly harsh winter

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn signed a bipartisan measure Tuesday that plans approximately $1 billion in capital construction spending intended to repair Illinois roads and bridges after a particularly harsh winter.

Department of Transportation officials say the program will fund about 200 projects that could start this summer. The money extends a $31-billion, six-year construction program that some transportation groups say will run out of money this year. Quinn says the plan will create 14,300 jobs.
