Illinois Spending Additional $102M on High-speed Rail

Construction will take place in 2016 and 2017 and is expected to create more than 900 construction jobs

According to the Journal Star, Illinois is planning to spend $102 million to build a bridge over the Kankakee River as part of high-speed rail upgrades between Chicago and St. Louis. The Illinois DOT will oversee the project.

Construction is planned for 2016 and 2017 and will likely create more than 900 construction jobs, according to Governor Pat Quinn.

With these additional funds, the state will have spend nearly $360 million on the Chicago to St. Louis rail route.
