While Nevada's Governor Brian Sandoval confirmed that Nevada had won the five-state battle for the five-million-square-foot, $5 billion Tesla Motors' battery gigafactory it's not a done deal yet. Before construction can start, Nevada's lawmakers must approve the project that would allows Tesla to operate in the state essentially tax free for 10 years.

If approved, the project would create 3,000 construction jobs and 6,500 full-time employees once complete.

The design of the gigafactory includes complete independence from outside energy sources instead operating on geothermal, wind and solar within the factory's confines.
