Construction is planned to begin this month on the Racine area’s first Sunbelt Rentals store, a provider of construction equipment, industrial tools and more.
A.W. Oakes & Son will build the 12,000-square-foot, roughly $2-million store on land company President Dan Oakes owns along the west Frontage Road of the new Interstate 94-Highway K interchange.
According to the future store’s manager, Katie Torgerson, the local store will open with about $10 million worth of fleet rental equipment and about 200 different types of equipment. A second, smaller building for storage of additional equipment will come later, she and Oakes said.
This will be Sunbelt’s fifth Wisconsin store and is expected to open next spring. It is part of a company expansion, especially in the upper Midwest.
