Proposed Iowa Transmission Line Could Create 5,000 Construction Jobs

The $2 billion project would create more than 5,000 construction jobs and require construction of a $250 million conversion station

Rock Island Clean Line LLC, a subsidiary of Clean Line Energy Partners LLC is looking to construct a 500-mile electric transmission line through 16 counties and almost the entire width of Iowa. The private line would deliver electricity fron the Iowa wind farms to Illinois and eastern states.

The $2 billion project would create more than 5,000 construction jobs, more than 500 operational positions and lead to $7 billion in new wind farm investments. In addition to the transmission line, the project would require construction of a $250 million conversion station in O-Brien County.
