Approximately 150,000 model-year 2003 Dodge Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks manufactured between June 20, 2002, and July 31, 2002 originally sold or registered in areas of high humidity are being recalled. The problem involves the passenger-side airbag inflator, which when triggered could rupture and send metal fragments toward in-vehicle passengers, striking them and potentially causing serious injuries.

Chrysler will notify owners and replace the front passenger airbag inflator free of charge. Notifications will start immediately for vehicles registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the U.S. Virgin Islands; owners of affected vehicles in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Guam and American Samoa will be notified starting on or about January 19, 2015.
