Tutor Perini, MGM Resorts Reach Settlement Over Las Vegas Harmon Tower

Details of the settlement were not released but filings show the settlement was nearly $190 million; neither party admitted wrongdoing as part of the agreement

Los Angeles Business Journal

Tutor Perini Corp. and the owners of Las Vegas's CityCenter (MGM Resorts Internation and CityCenter Holdings) have reached a nearly $190 million settlement over the flawed Harmon hotel that never opened. MGM's joint venture filed a lawsuit in 2010 alleging shoddy construction. Tutor Perini insisted the building was structurally sound.

The confidential settlement was reached before the trial started, which was expected to last months.  None of the parties admitted wrongdoing as part of the agreement.

According to filings, MGM settle the dispute by paying $153 million to Tutor Perini to satisfy construction lien claims not related to the Harmon building. Tutor Perini said it is receiving $189.5 million to settle all of its CiTYCenter lien claims.
