OSHA Rejects Arizona's Residential Fall Protection Standards

OSHA claims the state's standards do not do enough to protect workers from falls

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has rejected Arizona's residential fall protection standards covering workers in residential construction. According to OSHA, the standards fall short of equivalent federal standards. Arizona's law was passed in 2012 and amended in 2014, but OSHA says it isn't enough to protect workers. OSHA also said the organization and the state had very different requirements for employers' site-specific fall protection plans. Arizona contractors must comply with the federal residential fall protection standards effective February 7.
