50 NYC Building Inspectors, Construction Workers Accused in Bribery Schemes

Two-year investigation found some of the most senior building officials charged with corruption and overlooking safety and building problems for bribes

 

According to an article from Reuters, fifty New York City building inspectors and construction workers were charged with corruption last week. The officials were accused of accepting bribes to overlook building problems. The two-year investigation found at least 26 independent bribery schemes running through two city building agencies. All fifity people accused have been charged with felonies, and the most serious charges carry a penalty of up to 15 years in prision.
