Concerns Arise Over Boston Rail Project

The consulting team’s target is to bring the project to the level of 15% design by June 30

As construction and design activity on the South Coast Rail project progress forward there are still concerns about whether the $2.3 billion project will get the long-term funding it needs. Improvements to the area freight rail routes are set to begin in April. Work includes building five new grade crossings and four bridge replacements. However, the passage of last November's ballot question repealing the indexing of the gas tax to inflation raises concerns about the project's funding.
