NY Sees Rise of Pedestrian Injuries from Falling Construction Debris

Fifty-nine pedestrians have been injured over the past five years from construction debris but the first fatality in that time frame occurred recently

Fifty-nine people have been struck by falling debris from New York City construction sites in the past five years. Twenty-seven percent, or 16 pedestrians, were struck between January and September 2014. The first fatality from those incidents occurred this las week when a young woman died after being smashed by a piece of flying plywood from a luxury condo construction site.
