President Obama Blocks Republican Efforts to Overturn New Union Rules

President Obama and the Republican-controlled Congress are again at odds, this time over Republican efforts to overturn what has been referred to as the "ambush election rule." The new regulations, scheduled to take effect on April 14, are designed to simplify the process of holding union elections allowing unions to hold elections in as little as 11 days compared to the average 38 days it currently takes. A resolution that would have reversed these rules passed by houses of Congress, but was ultimately blocked by the President.
