Costs for the new Atlanta Falcons' stadium have increased 50% since construction was first announced

In March 2015, construction on the new Atlanta Falcons football stadium included progress on the concrete formwork and reinforcement steel from the upper suite level to concourse 3 as well as the elevated concrete work above the field level on the south side.

Originally estimated at $950 million, costs for the new retractable roof football stadium for the Atlanta Falcons, which is currently under construction, are now currently sitting at $1.5 billion. After design plans were revealed, the estimated costs climbed to $1.2 billion and then $1.4 billion. According to Kim Shreckengost, executive vice president for Falcons' owner Arthur Blank’s business interests, the latest $100 million cost increase is due to the financing costs of the stadium.
