The Examiner

San Francisco has frozen a local hiring mandate at 30 percent for public construction projects. The legislation first started in March 2011, and over the last four years has applied to 253 public construction projects. The mandate originally required San Francisco residents perform at least 20 percent of hours worked on public construction jobsites, which was set to increase annually. The city is freezing the mandate now at 30 percent for the next two years.
