Region posted big increases in all sectors, particularly energy, transportation and water infrastructure project starts

According to Engineering News-Record, Texas and Louisiana were the top states for construction starts last year with the region posting big increase in all sectors, especially energy, transportation and water infrastructure. In fact, the top 25 project of 2014 totaled $28.9 billion, which was more than double 2013's $12.5 billion in project starts. The largest regional start in 2014 in the energy sector was the $10-billion Cameron LNG Liquefaction Project in Hackberry, La. Other large projects are being done for Chevron Phillips and Petra Nova.
