NY Contractor Admits to Defrauding Clients

Contractor admits to altering formens' time sheets; agrees to pay $7 million to government and clients to avoid court case

Hunter Roberts Construction Group has admitted to overbilling clients that impacted almost all of the company's projects over between 2006 and 2013. The contractor has agreed to pay $7 million — $1 million to affected clients and $6 million to the government.

The contractor admitted to padding hours and inflating rates. According to the agreement, Hunter Roberts has fired the employees who committed the fraud, created positions such as general counsel and compliance coordinator, and instituted a number of checks so it will be difficult to get fraudulent time sheets through.
