Caterpillar Group President Ed Rapp to Retire Due to ALS

Rapp, 58, will remain with Caterpillar and continue working through early 2016.

Ed Rapp, a group vice president of Caterpillar Inc. with responsibility for the company’s vast mining group, has elected to retire due to ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Rapp, 58, was named group president of resource industries, the mining division, in January. He will remain with Caterpillar and continue working through early 2016, when the company plans to announce a replacement.
